Over the past year, the University has further built on its foundation of strong leadership. President Gabel formally began her tenure last July 1 and we continue to be thankful for her guidance and care. Our new provost, Rachel Croson, was virtually welcomed to the University in March. Our interim Vice President for Human Resources, Ken Horstman, has more than ably stepped into his role in helping the University navigate strangely difficult times. It is from this foundation that we will move forward, together.

As incoming chair of the P&A Senate, in addition to the continued critical COVID-related work, it is my intent to continue Noelle’s work of building and maintaining relationships across P&A staff, and continue to foster these relationships with staff, faculty, and student governance, and with University leadership. All of us need to be present for shared governance to be successful. We also hope to continue reviewing and revising our senate committee structure to better meet the evolving needs of P&A staff related to communication, advocacy, development, and technology, among other priorities.

These times are an opportunity to bring out the best in all of us. It is my hope that a year from now we'll all be able to look back and be proud of all that we accomplished. I am looking forward to working on behalf of P&A employees across the University system this coming year.
