Senate Research Committee (SRC)

The Senate Research Committee serves as the consultative body to the president and senior University officers on all major issues of and policies dealing with research at the University, such as grants management, intellectual property, and funding issues. The committee is expected to consider matters of University-wide policy or effect.

Senate Library Committee

The Senate Library Committee represents faculty, civil service, academic professional, and student interest in the libraries of the University of Minnesota. The Senate Library Committee discusses library administration issues such as acquisitions, accessibility, and electronic services, as well as serves in an advisory capacity to the library directors.

Senate Judicial Committee

The Senate Judicial Committee serves as the central judiciary body responsible for hearing cases involving denial of tenure and/or promotion and termination for cause.

Intercollegiate Athletics Committee (IAC)

The Intercollegiate Athletics Committee advises and consults with the president, the responsible senior administrators, and the director of Intercollegiate Athletics on policies and major decisions relating to intercollegiate athletics at the University. 

Regents policy delegates immediate administration of the athletics departments to the president, the central administration, and the director of Intercollegiate Athletics; this committee has no direct role in the day-to-day management of the department.

Senate Committee on Information Technologies (SCIT)

The Senate Committee on Information Technologies represents faculty, academic professional, civil service and student interests in the development, implementation, and distribution of information technologies at the University. Information technologies include information systems (including their associated hardware and software) and the electronic exchange of information among faculty, staff and students.

The Senate Committee on Finance and Planning serves as the consultative body to the president and senior University officers on all major issues of planning, budget, resource allocation policy, and University operations. The committee is expected to consider matters of University-wide policy or effect.

Retirement Subcommittee

The Retirement Subcommittee is a standing subcommittee of the Senate Committee on Faculty Affairs. The Retirement Subcommittee oversees and facilitates communications among faculty members, the Senate Committee on Faculty Affairs and the University administration regarding the operation of the University's Faculty Retirement Plan, Optional Retirement Plan, and Section 457 Deferred Compensation Plan.

The Senate Committee on Faculty Affairs is concerned with policies and procedures that influence the personal and professional welfare of the faculty and postdoctoral fellows/associates.

Faculty Academic Oversight for Intercollegiate Athletics Committee (FAOIAC)

The Faculty Academic Oversight for Intercollegiate Athletics Committee is responsible for eligibility, compliance, and other issues relating to academic integrity of participants in athletics. The committee works closely with the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost.

Equity, Access, and Diversity Committee (EAD)

The Equity, Access, and Diversity Committee is primarily concerned with the impact and compliance of University policies, programs, and services on equal opportunity, affirmative action, and diversity from a system perspective.
