Purpose

Annually, the P&A Senate awards the Outstanding Unit Award (OUA) which recognizes a unit of the University of Minnesota judged to be exemplary in its support of P&A staff and the critical role P&A employees fulfill in carrying out the mission of the University. The winner is awarded a $1000 professional development grant.

Eligibility

Any unit in which a P&A staff holds an appointment is eligible to be nominated, or to apply. Units that previously received the award may reapply three years after date of last receipt.  The P&A Senate recognizes that the definition of “unit” can vary widely across the University community. For the Outstanding Unit Award, a “unit” includes colleges, departments, divisions, institutes, outreach centers, schools and other administrative entities within the University.

Selection Criteria

Nominations will be assessed based on the following three specific key areas, recognizing work achieved during the past three calendar years. Complete guidelines are available, along with information about past award winners.

  • Practices supporting and enhancing the careers of P&A employees
  • Practices used for P&A involvement in decision-making
  • P&A contributions to profession & community

Deadline

Nominations must be received no later than 5:00 pm on March 30, 2018.
