Recent Faculty Consultative Committee (FCC) efforts and action:

  • Consideration of the proposal by Executive Vice President and Provost Rachel Croson to create a special panel called the COVID-19 Vaccine Attestation Discipline Advisory Panel (CVADAP) to advise deans on faculty discipline pertaining solely to non-compliance of the attestation requirement, which was due September 17, 2021.     • Called a special Faculty Senate meeting to discuss the proposal, held on September 23, 2021.

    • Met with the provost and the Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs Rebecca Ropers following the September 23, 2021, special Faculty Senate meeting to discuss how best to incorporate faculty comments and questions that were raised regarding the CVADAP. (chair/vice chair of FCC)

    • The Faculty Senate voted to approve the CVADAP proposal during the regular Faculty Senate meeting on September 30, 2021. Therefore, proposed discipline of faculty by the relevant dean will be reviewed by CVADAP for this matter.

  • Reviewed and provided input on eight educational policies under comprehensive review, which were voted on and approved during the September 30, 2021, Faculty Senate meeting. (chair/vice chair of FCC on behalf of the FCC).

Upcoming/Ongoing efforts:

  • Consideration of a resolution proposed by a group of faculty senators titled Resolution on Classroom Health and Safety under COVID-19 for senate discussion and vote (chair/vice chair of FCC). 

    • A special FCC/SCC meeting was held on September 30, 2021, to consider the request for a special faculty senate meeting.

    • Special meetings of the Faculty Senate and the University Senate were approved to discuss the resolution; both will be held on October 6, 2021. (FCC/SCC)

  • FCC plans to discuss how faculty governance can lead in terms of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility. Please share your thoughts about that issue with FCC member(s) directly or through the form linked below. (FCC) 

  • Ongoing consultation with Senior Vice President for Finance and Operations Myron Frans and Vice President for Human Resources Ken Horstman on the PEAK Initiative (Positioned for Excellence, Alignment & Knowledge). (FCC)
