Fill out the Student Senate Off-Campus Housing Survey!

Over the course of the past year, the Student Senate Consultative Committee (SSCC) has been meeting with University administrators to discuss the creation of a system-wide survey designed for students who rent off campus. Through funding provided by the University Senate Office, the Minnesota Student Association (MSA), the UMD Student Association (UMDSA), UMR Student Services, and the UMTC Office for Student Affairs (OSA), the SSCC has now launched this survey, the results of which are intended to act as a resource for students seeking off-campus housing by providing direct reviews of apartment complexes, landlords, and/or management companies. By publishing the survey results on the Student Senate webpage, SSCC members hope to provide students on each campus with resources to assist in their housing search.
Spotlight On: Ryan Machtmes

Ryan Machtmes likes to say he grew up in academia. While his mother attained an A.B.D. in crop physiology and her Ph.D. in research methods in education, the family moved around a lot, but always in proximity to a college campus. Machtmes holds a masters degree in applied statistics and is now on track to become a second-generation Ph.D. His participation in University Senate shared governance includes membership on the Disabilities Issues Committee, as well as the University Senate. “I’ve always been strongly committed to service work and servant leadership,” Machtmes said. Student Committee on Committees
The Student Committee on Committees appoints students members of certain committees of the University Senate, Faculty Senate, and Student Senate, and advises the Student Senate Consultative Committee on the committee structure of the Student Senate.

The Student Sexual Misconduct Committee acts as a hearing panel when students contest alleged sexual misconduct violations of the Student Conduct Code.
Campus Committee on Student Behavior (CCSB)
The Campus Committee on Student Behavior acts as a hearing panel when students contest alleged violations of the Student Conduct Code.

Senate Committee on Student Affairs (SCSA)
The Senate Committee on Student Affairs serves as the consultative body to the president and senior University officers on all major issues of importance to students at the University of Minnesota, such as admissions, registration, student health care, or student organization issues. The committee is expected to consider matters of University-wide policy or effect.
